GRANTs make a difference: Recipient Stories

Encouraging Nonprofits to Think outside the box

BRCF consistently promotes the importance of writing grants that support innovative, transformational, and/or impactful programs and projects wich address community needs or opportunities.

In 2021, Girls Inc. received a grant for their GIRLS thINC Outside the Box program. The program is designed to provide girls who are unable to attend center-based programs with access to the Girls Inc. Experience through monthly program boxes delivered to their door. Through rich literature and immersive, hands-on activities, girls tap into their inner strengths and explore new concepts all from home. Girls enrolled in GIRLS thINC Outside the Box have access to instructional videos and trained Girls Inc. facilitators to support their experience at home.

Our staff members have been proud and excited to see the immense amount of collaboration, leadership, and communication skills between the girls. Additionally, the teens are eager to take on the project each month, knowing they are helping provide the Girls Inc. Experience to girls throughout their community. Fantastic job, girls!
— Amy Dillon, Girls Inc. Executive Director

Improving Quality Of life in shelby county

In 2019, BRCF committed to a partnership with Major Health Partners, the City of Shelbyville, and Shelby County Government to install a warm water pool at the YMCA. BRCF'S first grant to financially support this community amenity was awarded in 2021 upon completion of the facility.

18,956 guests utilized the pool during its inaugural year. We have hosted various events that appeal to various age groups.
— LaTisha Idlewine, Former YMCA Executive Director
